Latest 2025 World Series odds will shock you as MLB postseason nears

We're approaching the final week of the 2025 MLB season, which means playoff seeding will be finalized.

So far, only three teams league-wide have clinched a postseason berth : The Chicago Cubs, Milwaukee Brewers and Philadelphia Phillies. That's the type of parity we're dealing with this year.

Furthermore, we're headed for a second consecutive season without a 100-game winner (The Los Angeles Dodgers, who won last year's World Series, notched 98 victories in 2024), as the Brewers, with 94 wins, have the best chance to post triple-digit victories with nine games left (they would need to go 6-3 to reach 100).

With that in mind, it's no surprise that a clear World Series favorite hasn't emerged, either.

With just a handful of MLB regular-season games left, no World Series favorite has emerged

According to FanGraphs, the Seattle Mariners currently hold the highest World Series odds at just under 14% entering play on Sept. 19. That's astonishing for a team that has yet to secure a playoff spot.

These odds span both leagues, which even have the Mariners above powerhouse teams like the Phillies, Dodgers and New York Yankees. Speaking of, those three squads are right below Seattle in FanGraphs' latest projection, which makes sense given their experience and pedigree. The Brewers, Toronto Blue Jays and Detroit Tigers round out the top seven.

Realistically, any of these teams could win the World Series, given how closely these odds are bunched together. Or, as we've seen in recent years, a wild-card team could get hot in October and go on a run. No matter what happens, baseball fans are expected to be in for a crazy ride to conclude the 2025 season.
