Tyreek Hill issues challenge to winless Dolphins after loss to Bills

Even before the Miami Dolphins fell to 0-3 on the season via a 31-21 loss at the Buffalo Bills on Thursday night, whispers hovered over the Dolphins suggesting the team could move on from wide receiver Tyreek Hill and head coach Mike McDaniel either during or after the ongoing campaign. 

Following Thursday's defeat, Hill delivered somewhat of a challenge to his teammates regarding the upcoming games on Miami's schedule.

Tyreek Hill still believes in 2025 Miami Dolphins

"It's all about how do you want to be remembered?" Hill said during his postgame media availability, per Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN. "Do you want to be the 0-3 team that just was like, 'Hey, we just going to throw in the towel and just say hey, it's over with,' or are we going to be remembered as the team that started off 0-3 and found a way to turn it around going into the fourth game? We got great captains, great leadership who do a great job of setting the standard every day at practice and also in the locker room. So we got a beautiful thing going right now."

Less than 24 hours before Thursday's contest got underway, a report detailed alleged culture issues that have impacted the Dolphins during McDaniel's tenure, which began in 2022. According to Louis-Jacques, Hill was "among repeat offenders who received numerous fines throughout" the 2024 season for "missing meetings or arriving late to meetings and practice." This past January, Hill sparked controversy when he subbed himself out of Miami's regular-season finale and then told reporters that he was "out."

How Tyreek Hill feels about Mike McDaniel amid rumors

Throughout the midweek, multiple Dolphins players defended McDaniel after a plane banner flew over Miami's Hard Rock Stadium calling for the firings of the coach and Dolphins general manager Chris Grier last Sunday. Following Thursday's loss, Hill indicated he wants McDaniel to stay put until further notice. 

"I love Coach McDaniel," Hill added during his comments. "I love him to death, man. Obviously, he gave me a chance to come to Miami and play, and I don't take that for granted. To see how he coached and to see how he led me today, it was a beautiful thing to see. So can't wait until next week." 

Dolphins players will now have a bit of a break before they begin preparing to face the New York Jets on Sept. 29. The 0-2 Jets play at the 2-0 Tampa Bay Buccaneers this Sunday.
