The scrappy fourth-liner for the newly minted Mammoth went hilariously wide-eyed for this year's headshot, likely earning laughs and scares in equal measure.
Those who closely follow the NHL know that Tanev's look is not a one-off. Since 2021, the veteran has developed a habit of staring intensely when it's his turn in front of the camera.

In addition to his scary smiles, Tanev will try to provide a veteran presence for the Mammoth during their second season in Utah — and their first with the new moniker.
The 33-year-old appeared in 79 games between the Seattle Kraken and Winnipeg Jets in the 2024-25 campaign, tallying 10 goals and 12 assists for 22 points.
