The Toronto Maple Leafs have already begun their training camp in preparation for the start of the 2025-26 season, and several players will have to prove they have what it takes to remain on the team.
One particular case is that of Bobby McMann, who is entering the second and final year of his contract with Toronto, and whose near future in the NHL is in doubt. Last season was a positive surprise for the team, but his limited experience at the highest level raises questions about his continuity.
Last season, McMann recorded 20 goals and 34 points in 74 games played. For many, these may be average numbers, but it must be taken into account that the Canadian was not a drafted player and has only three years of experience playing in the NHL.

Craig Berube is counting on him this season and has placed on his shoulders the pressure of having to maintain a high level, as he believes McMann can be even better. "I think Bobby can take another step in his game," said Berube, via Leafs Nation. "But Bobby, I feel, can take another step in his game."
Although McMann's numbers were generally good last season, it should also be noted that he ended the campaign with 11 straight games without scoring a goal. The physical abilities and talent are there, but it is crucial that the 29-year-old winger works on being consistent, because that is what will keep him on one of the best teams in the league. It is a great opportunity to prove he can be a top-six winger.
