Steelers' Aaron Rodgers passes eight-time Pro Bowler on all-time passing yards list

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers moved up not one but two all-time lists on Sunday. While most of the focus was on Rodgers' historic touchdown pass, he also advanced in another statistic often used when ranking the top quarterbacks in NFL history.

Aaron Rodgers climbs the all-time passing yards list

In addition to throwing his 509th touchdown pass to surpass Brett Favre, his former teammate from his early years with Green Bay, for fourth place all-time, Rodgers climbed up on the all-time passing yards list as well.

Before the end of the first half of Pittsburgh's Week 3 game against New England, Rodgers got by eight-time Pro Bowler Philip Rivers for the No. 6 spot in yardage. Rodgers, now in his 21st season, entered Sunday's game with 63,399 passing yards. Rivers, on the other hand, finished his 17-year career in 2020 with 63,440.

So even though Rodgers' place as a future Pro Football Hall of Famer would be secure regardless of his place on all-time lists, his increased longevity and decision to extend his career with the Steelers have opened the door to enhance his legacy even more. Through the first two weeks of the 2025 season, Rodgers had 8,308 passing attempts, which is in contrast to the 8,134 Rivers enjoyed during his career.

Who can Aaron Rodgers still pass on all-time passing yards list?

While trying to surpass Tom Brady as the NFL's all-time passing leader — Brady retired with 89,214 — Rodgers certainly has an opportunity to get closer and move past other legends. Ironically enough, Steelers great Ben Roethlisberger is up next for Rodgers at No. 5 with 64,088.

Then, after Roethlisberger, Rodgers could pass Favre in another career category, as his Packers predecessor is No. 4 with 71,838. Peyton Manning is just ahead of Favre with 71,940 before needing to reach 80,000 to get to Drew Brees.
