Connor Zilisch broke this NASCAR record in Xfinity Series playoff race at Kansas

Connor Zilisch's 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series season has already been one for the record books, but the 19-year-old phenom made more history in Saturday's playoff race at Kansas Speedway.

What record did Connor Zilisch break?

Zilisch finished runner-up to race winner Brandon Jones on Saturday, clinching his 16th consecutive top-five finish. That breaks the record for the most consecutive top-five finishes in Xfinity Series history, which was previously 15 from Xfinity Series legend Sam Ard in 1983.

Zilisch, who has won nine races in Xfinity Series competition this season, has not finished worse than fifth at Talladega on April 26. Zilisch injured his back in a crash on the final lap of the Talladega race, which forced him to miss the May 3 race at Texas Motor Speedway.

Since returning from the back injury, Zilisch has won eight times. That includes three wins since he was injured in a fall in victory lane at Watkins Glen on Aug. 9.

"It just shows that these JR Motorsports cars are as fast as Xfinity Mobile every week," Zilisch told the CW broadcast when asked about the streak. "It's really cool to not only have that record, but also go 16 weeks without a DNF."

Zilisch's second-place finish on Saturday also locked him into the penultimate round of the Xfinity Series playoffs, leaving him to chase a victory stress-free at the Charlotte Roval next week.
