Lane Kiffin was more than ready to gloat on Saturday after leading Ole Miss to a win over LSU.
Kiffin’s Rebels outlasted the Tigers 24-19 in this year’s Magnolia Bowl at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Miss. Ole Miss wore LSU down with its ground game, outrushing the Tigers 166 to 57.
During his postgame interview, Kiffin praised his team for gutting out a win over their No. 4-ranked rival. He closed his interview by saying that he was “looking for” his daughter’s boyfriend, Whit Weeks, who plays linebacker for LSU.
“I’m looking for Whit right now to see if we covered the over,” Kiffin said

Kiffin was referencing the advice he gave to fans after his daughter, Landry, became Instagram official with Weeks. In response to the news, the Ole Miss coach told fans to “take the over,” claiming the Rebels’ offense would run amok on Weeks and the rest of the Tigers’ defenders.
While Ole Miss did emerge victorious and controlled the game from the second quarter onwards, the teams were well short of the “over” Kiffin advised fans to take. Most sportsbooks pegged the game’s total at around 57.5 points, about two touchdowns above the game’s final total of 43.
Kiffin made sure his team wasn’t short on motivation for Saturday’s game. Aside from trying to assert his dominance over Weeks, Kiffin also included a Brian Kelly quote on the team’s scouting report for LSU.
