Each week of the NFL season, Yardbarker will be monitoring players who have suffered notable injuries.
From a Baltimore Ravens quarterback to a Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman, here are five players we're tracking after Week 4:
Jackson — a two-time MVP — exited the third quarter of Sunday's road game against the Kansas City Chiefs with a hamstring injury. The QB finished 14-of-20 passing for 147 yards, one touchdown and one interception.
"Nothing looks season-ending by any stretch for anybody," Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said following the 37-20 loss, via former Ravens editor Sarah Ellison. "But we'll have to look at those injuries tomorrow and see where we are going forward."
Jackson has stayed healthy over the past two seasons but battled injuries in 2021 and 2022. During this span, he missed 10 games because of knee, back and ankle issues.
Ravens backup QB Cooper Rush was serviceable in seven seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, going 9-5 in 14 starts when filling in for Dak Prescott. Against the Chiefs, he finished 9-of-13 passing for 52 yards.
In Sunday's home game against the Los Angeles Chargers, Nabers landed awkwardly after contesting a jump ball midway through the second quarter. He was then carted off the field.
Soon after, NFL Media insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported Nabers is believed to have suffered a torn ACL in his right knee. He is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
"Injuries happen," Giants head coach Brian Daboll said after the 21-18 win. "Certainly not happy about it, whether it was Malik or anybody else. ... We'll see where he's at. He's an important piece of our team, but the guys that played behind him, just like last year when [Darius Slayton went] in ... everybody gets paid to do a job and next man up."
The Giants don't have another WR like Nabers, though. Last season, he set the record for receptions by a rookie WR (109 in 15 games). Through four games this season, he has logged 18 receptions for 271 yards and two TD catches.
Alt was carted off the field in the first quarter of Sunday's game against the Giants after suffering a right ankle injury. Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh didn't provide an update after the game. However, ESPN's Kris Rhim spotted the offensive lineman in street clothes and a walking boot after returning to the sideline in the second half.
If Alt misses multiple games, that would be costly for a Chargers O-line that's already injury-riddled. Left tackle Rashawn Slater suffered a season-ending knee injury in training camp. Guard Mekhi Becton, meanwhile, missed Sunday's game because of a concussion.
The injury-laden O-line contributed to QB Justin Herbert's struggles against the Giants. He completed 23-of-41 passes for 203 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.
The 49ers can't catch a break when it comes to injuries. Pearsall exited the third quarter of Sunday's 26-21 home loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars after landing hard on the ground. He was trying to catch a pass beforehand.
Pearsall was limited during practice this week because of a knee injury. In his postgame news conference, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said it was the WR's other knee. The coach added he was unsure about Pearsall's status.
Pearsall missing time would be more bad news for the 49ers offense. He's third in the league in receiving yards (327) through four games. Tight end George Kittle is still on injured reserve after suffering a hamstring injury in Week 1. WR Brandon Aiyuk is "not close" to returning from a knee injury he suffered last season, per 49ers general manager John Lynch.
Johnson exited in the third quarter of Sunday's 31-25 road win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a shoulder issue. According to NFL Media's Mike Garafolo, it's the second straight week the six-time Pro Bowler left a game with an injury.
In his postgame news conference, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni didn't provide an update on Johnson. Fred Johnson, 28, would replace him if he missed significant time.
At 35, Johnson is still one of the better O-linemen in the NFL. Per Pro Football Focus, he has allowed no sacks through four games this season.
