Do Browns players still have faith in Joe Flacco amid 1-3 season start?

As Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer pointed out, Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski indicated that 40-year-old Joe Flacco will remain the club's starting quarterback after Flacco tossed two interceptions and lost a fumble on a strip sack during Sunday's 34-10 loss at the Detroit Lions that dropped Cleveland to 1-3 on the season.

Following the defeat, multiple Browns players gave Flacco public votes of confidence amid whispers suggesting Cleveland could and/or should start rookie Dillon Gabriel for this coming Sunday's matchup against the 2-2 Minnesota Vikings that will be held at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.

Why Joel Bitonio still believes in Joe Flacco

"Yeah, we believe in Joe," veteran Browns left guard Joel Bitonio said after the loss. "I mean, he puts us in the right position 90 percent of the time, 99 percent of the time. Makes a couple mistakes here and there, like everybody. And that part’s been frustrating, but we believe in him and what he can do for our offense. And getting all the young guys kind of in the right position right now."

Such comments don't erase the fact that the numbers show Flacco has been one of the NFL's worst starting signal-callers since Week 1. According to StatMuse, Flacco is responsible for a league-worst eight turnovers on the season. Per ESPN, he's ranked last in the league among qualified quarterbacks with a 60.3 passer rating and 32nd out of 33 players with a 27.6 adjusted QBR.

Meanwhile, Cleveland is 31st in the NFL with an average of 14.0 points scored per game.

Browns rookie urges teammates to "figure it out" with Joe Flacco

"I believe in (Flacco)," Browns rookie tight end Harold Fannin Jr. added after the team's latest defeat. "We watch the tape, we all know what he sees, we all understand what he’s trying to do. We all just gotta get back to work. Just keep working, figure it out."

Stefanski and Co. seemingly don't want Gabriel to make his first regular-season start overseas, which is understandable considering the unique nature of the work week. That said, Gabriel could get the nod for Cleveland's Week 6 game at the rival Pittsburgh Steelers (3-1) if the Browns lose in London.

As of Monday morning, ESPN BET had the Browns as 3.5-point underdogs against the Vikings.
