The Baltimore Ravens will enter October with a 1-3 record, tied with the Cleveland Browns for last place in the AFC North following a 37-20 blowout loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.
Following the game, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh admitted he was concerned with the state of the season.
“I’m concerned, but I’m not overwhelmed by it,” Harbaugh said, via Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk. “We’ve played — the three losses are against probably three of the top teams in the league, for sure. That’s just the hand we’ve been dealt, but it doesn’t really matter. We have to win the next game."
Baltimore's schedule hasn't been easy. The Ravens suffered a second-half collapse in a 41-40 loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 1. They dominated the Browns 41-17 before dropping a "Monday Night Football" contest 38-30 to the Detroit Lions.
The defense is the main issue, and it doesn't look like star quarterback Lamar Jackson and the offense can put up enough points against league contenders to make the Ravens a legitimate postseason threat.
Harbaugh said the staff needs to work on putting together a better game plan so Baltimore can start winning games.
"And then once you win the next game, then you have a chance to start stacking some wins," Harbaugh said. "And that’s what we’ve got to do, big picture-wise. But small picture-wise, we have to do a great job of putting together a great game plan and a great practice and then a great game.”
The Ravens will host the 1-3 Houston Texans in Week 5. Both teams made the playoffs last season, and a loss would be crushing for their hopes of making the postseason this season.
