Angels reportedly make decision on manager Ron Washington's future

After several MLB coaches were fired or dismissed on Monday, that trend continued into Tuesday. As first reported by The Athletic's Sam Blum, the Los Angeles Angels will be under new leadership next season.

Ron Washington out as Los Angeles Angels manager

Los Angeles has reportedly decided to part ways with both Ron Washington and Ray Montgomery. Washington was hired by the Angels prior to last season, and his tenure was well worse than expected.

He went 63-99 in his first season, but things were expected to go a bit better this season. They did not, however, with the Angels finishing this season at 72-90.

Washington had to step away from the team in mid-June to deal with health issues, and he was not able to return at any point during the season.

Ray Montgomery couldn't find success as interim manager

After Washington stepped away, Montgomery was named the interim manager for the remainder of the season. The Angels finished the year in last place in the AL West for the second consecutive season.

What's next for the Los Angeles Angels?

There are no early reports of who the next manager will be in Los Angeles, but it will be the third one in just a four-season span.

It feels safe to assume that a locker room full of veterans such as Mike Trout, Kenley Jansen and Anthony Rendon may have some say on who manages the Angels next season.
