George Pickens had his best game in a Dallas Cowboys uniform on Sunday as he helped his team put 40 points on the board against the Green Bay Packers. The high-scoring game still ended with a 40-40 tie after overtime, but it does little to take away from Pickens’ big performance.
The 24-year-old wide receiver, who joined the Cowboys in the offseason via a trade from the Pittsburgh Steelers, caught eight passes for 134 yards and two touchdowns. Pickens now has four TDs to his name in his first four games for Dallas.
Pickens’ strong start has been crucial for the Cowboys, who are dealing with multiple injuries on offense. Their wideout depth, in particular, has been problematic with CeeDee Lamb sitting out multiple weeks due to a high-ankle sprain. The All-Pro WR suffered the injury in Dallas’ Week 3 loss to the Chicago Bears. Lamb is expected to miss extended time, but the fact that the Cowboys have not placed him on injured reserve means that they continue to hold out hope for the imminent return of their best pass-catcher.
Apart from Lamb, third-year WR Jonathan Mingo has also been sidelined by a PCL injury suffered during the offseason and currently has no firm timetable for his return.
In an attempt to shore up their options at wide receiver, the Cowboys announced on Tuesday that they have signed Super Bowl-winning wideout Parris Campbell to the practice squad.

Campbell, who won a championship with the Philadelphia Eagles last season, returns to Dallas after being waived by the team earlier this season. The former Ohio State standout signed a one-year deal with the Cowboys during the offseason but was waived after being placed on the IR with a knee injury.
Campbell has yet to make his Cowboys debut, but he could now get his chance now that he’s back in the lineup, albeit with the practice squad. Depending on how things shake out, the 28-year-old could potentially see himself elevated to a game-day roster. There is obviously no guarantee, though.
A roster spot opened for Dallas this week after the Indianapolis Colts poached linebacker Buddy Johnson. Instead of signing an outright replacement for the fourth-round LB, the Cowboys decided to give the open spot to Campbell to address a more glaring roster need.
Dallas, which has a 1-2-1 record to start the season, is back in action on Sunday in a road matchup against the winless New York Jets at MetLife Stadium.
