Questions remain even after Eagles' A.J. Brown addresses controversial social media post

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown insists he and quarterback Jalen Hurts are cool, but take that claim with skepticism. 

Following a Week 4 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Brown posted a cryptic quote in an X post, which seemed directed at Hurts and the rest of the team. On Wednesday, he attempted to clear the air.

"Obviously, Sunday after the game, I let my frustrations boil over," Brown told the media. "I didn't speak to the media. I had the chance to correct my frustrations, and I continued to let them boil over. That's on me, and I take full accountability for that. 

"My message on Twitter wasn't directed at anyone in the building. Not my coach, not my quarterback, the GM, nobody. That's why I take full accountability. I have open communication with all my coaches, and my quarterback as well." 

But does he communicate well with his QB?

Are A.J. Brown and Jalen Hurts experiencing friction?

Brown got cagey when reporters pressed him about his relationship with Hurts. He first said their relationship is good and they share a deep love of the game. 

However, he then said they don't talk much during games because he's not the type of player who begs him to "give [him] the ball." 

"People said he was forcing me the ball because I'm complaining, but if you ask any of my teammates, I'm probably the quietest one on the sideline. I don't even go to the huddle during timeouts," Brown said. "I try to let the game come to me." 

Hurts was less vocal. Asked if he had seen the WR's tweet, he said yes but wasn't going to discuss it, adding that Brown is a "willing contributor." 

Perhaps it's time for Brown and Hurts to sit down and talk, especially with Philadelphia's passing attack struggling. The Eagles rank second-to-last in the league in passing yards (138 YPG).

It's well past time anyway. Concerns about their relationship have been bubbling for nearly a year. If they don't, that could threaten the 4-0 Eagles' chances of repeating as Super Bowl champions.
