Buccaneers’ Baker Mayfield trolls former team in hilarious fashion

The football career of Baker Mayfield, dating back to college, has been the type of ride worthy of its own movie. After showing signs of being the savior for the Cleveland Browns, Mayfield was pushed out following the team's blockbuster trade for Deshaun Watson, which ultimately proved to be a disastrous move.

After stints with the Carolina Panthers and Los Angeles Rams, Mayfield appeared to be on the brink of shifting to a full-time backup role—until Tom Brady retired and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers needed a signal-caller. The result brought new life to Mayfield's career, as he's signed a multi-year extension and led the team for three seasons, posting a 22-16 record.

The Buccaneers have made the playoffs in Mayfield's first two seasons and are off to a 3-1 start in 2025, and it's obvious the 30-year-old is enjoying life in his new football home. However, that's not to say he doesn't harbor a bit of ill will toward former teams, which became apparent when he took a jab at the Panthers recently.

After explaining that he and Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold remain close friends after their time together with the Panthers, a reporter asked if they "reminisce on the good old days in Carolina. His response was telling.

"Uhh, reminisce on WHAT days?" Mayfield sarcastically replied.

After the reporter again cited the "good old days" with the Panthers, Mayfield quickly responded, "Oh, nope. No, we don't."

It was a pretty incredible quick jab at the franchise, but it's hard to blame Mayfield for not walking away from his time in Carolina thrilled with how things played out. After all, in his six games as a starter, the Panthers were 1-5, and they haven't posted a winning record since the 2017 season.
