A Dallas Cowboys rookie endangered his first NFL game because of his choice of shoes during Thursday’s practice.
Rookie running back Jaydon Blue is expected to be active for the first time during the regular season for Sunday’s game against the New York Jets. However, he developed blisters on his feet during Thursday’s practice because he wore a pair of special Louis Vuitton-Nike cleats.
“About halfway through practice, I saw him laying,” coach Brian Schottenheimer told reporters Friday. “I say, ‘What the hell happened to Blue?’ ‘Coach, I’m fine. I got blisters.’ I said, ‘Oh, shocker. Look at the cool shoes you got.'”
Cowboys RB Jaydon Blue debuted new Louis Vuitton-Nike cleats at practice on Thursday, and HC Brian Schottenheimer laughed in saying that it was a “questionable decision.”

On Friday, Blue had made a quick adjustment and was wearing a different pair of blue cleats for practice.

Blue clearly wanted to make a fashion statement during practice. He succeeded, but he certainly was not going to risk his NFL debut just to do it. He was a fifth-round pick of the Cowboys in April and has been inactive for the team’s first four games.
At least Blue’s shoe did not directly cause a more serious injury. That would have been tough to swallow for both Blue and for Nike.
