Despite having a week off, the Milwaukee Brewers appear not to have let the time off affect them, as they made their presence in the postseason known.
Welcoming in the Chicago Cubs for Game 1 after the Cubbies fought off the San Diego Padres, who gave them a good fight in the wild-card series, the Brewers gave the Cubs a shellacking, winning 9-3. The Brewers got most of their offense from their star centerfielder, Jackson Chourio, who contributed a third of the Brewers’ runs before leaving the game with a hamstring injury that could hurt the team in the series.
Exploding for nine runs to lead them to their Game 1 victory, Chourio was the star of the ballgame, collecting three hits in the first two innings of the game, becoming the first player to do so in the postseason, according to MLB.com's Sarah Langs.
Chourio’s third hit came with him legging out an infield single with the bases loaded after hitting a sharp line drive down the leftfield line that Cubs third baseman Matt Shaw snagged, but had no hope of making a play.

The thrill of Chourio getting his third hit was short-lived, however, as Chourio would end up leaving the ballgame due to a hamstring injury. Isaac Collins would enter the game for Chourio as a pinch runner.
Both parties will hope that this is not a serious injury for Chourio, with the Brewers calling it “hamstring tightness.” Chourio is no stranger to having a hamstring injury, as he spent a month on the injured list earlier this year with the same injury, which manager Pat Murphy called “scary.”
“It’s scary,” Murphy said during the TBS telecast. “He had a hamstring that kept him out a month, and it’s the same hamstring, so we’re worried about it. It’s really unfortunate.”
Not having Chourio will hurt the Brewers, as he is a key piece at the top of their lineup. Chourio has also done well against the Cubs, as he went into the game hitting .324 with 23 hits, a home run and nine RBI in 20 career games. Chourio's status for Game 2 is unknown, but the Brewers will need his bat to take a 2-0 lead heading into Chicago.
