The Las Vegas Aces are two wins away from another WNBA championship thanks to their 91-78 win over the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday afternoon. That win gives them a 2-0 series lead and complete control of the series as it shifts back to Phoenix for Game 3 on Wednesday.
While Friday's Game 1 was a thriller, Sunday's Game 2 was a pretty dominant performance from an Aces team that has been on a roll since the end of July.
Including Sunday's win, and all of the playoffs, Las Vegas is 26-4 over its past 30 games.
While Las Vegas' bench was a big part of the story in Game 1, it was its starters that took charge on Sunday. And while A'ja Wilson had another outstanding showing with 28 points and 14 rebounds (her sixth career WNBA Finals game with at least 20 points and 10 rebounds — the most ever in league history) it was Young that literally took the game over in the third quarter.
So much so that she not only set a WNBA Finals record with 21 points in the quarter, she nearly outscored Phoenix's entire lineup in that frame (24 points).

Las Vegas' big three of Wilson, Young and Chelsea Gray combined for 70 points and nearly did enough on their own to outscore the Mercury's entire team. Their 30 rebounds as a group were also just four less than the Mercury's entire team. It's a testament to how many different ways this Aces team can win.
In Game 1 it was a balanced effort from everybody, including more than 30 points from the bench. In Game 2 it was their best players just enforcing their will and controlling everything about the game.
Now the Mercury find themselves in a position where they have to beat Las Vegas four times over the next five games. The Aces have lost just six games in their past 30. The odds do not seem to be in Phoenix's favor.
If the Aces win two of the next five games to claim the title, it will be the third in franchise history with all of them coming within the past five seasons.
