Ravens RB Derrick Henry reaching huge milestone won't overshadow slump

Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry reached a massive milestone in Sunday's home game against the Houston Texans. That's the only thing he'll want to remember.

Henry had yet another underwhelming performance in what's becoming a lost season for the Ravens, who fell to 1-4 after the 2-3 Texans blew them out, 44-10.

Henry ties Walter Payton on all-time rushing TDs list

With the Ravens trailing 34-3 late in the third quarter, Henry punched it in for a one-yard touchdown run. That tied him with the Pro Football Hall of Famer for the fifth-most rushing TDs (110) in NFL history. The Raven did so in 140 games, while the former Chicago Bears great reached that figure in 190 games.

Aside from that, it was a rough outing for Henry, who had eight yards on six carries in the first half. The RB finished with 33 yards and one TD on 15 carries.

Houston has one of the better defenses in the league. Entering Week 5, the Texans ranked first in the NFL in points allowed (12.8) and 12th in rushing yards allowed (102.3). Still, Henry was struggling before Sunday's matchup.

He hasn't rushed for 100 yards or more since a 41-40 loss to the Buffalo Bills on the road in Week 1. The former Alabama star ran for 169 yards on 18 carries in that loss.

Let's not forget the fumbling issues, either. Henry has lost two fumbles this season, both of which came in losses to the Bills and the Detroit Lions. The RB didn't fumble against the Texans, but his performance still raises concerns.

Is Henry losing his wheels?

Henry rushed for 1,921 yards in 17 games with Baltimore last season, but he may be starting to run on empty after turning 31 in January. Backs typically become less productive as they age. Payton rushed for 1,684 yards in 16 games during his age-31 season in 1984. He failed to hit that mark again before retiring at the end of the 1987 season.

Henry possibly exiting his prime is more bad news for the Ravens, who are on a downward spiral without starting quarterback Lamar Jackson. He could miss two more games because of a hamstring injury.
