Trevor Lawrence went from zero to hero on “Monday Night Football” in a matter of seconds.

The Jacksonville Jaguars had 1st-and-goal at the Kansas City Chiefs’ 1-yard line with under 30 seconds to play at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville. With the Chiefs leading 28-24, the Jaguars had four chances to score the game-winning touchdown.

Disaster struck on the first play as Jaguars right guard Patrick Mekari stepped on Lawrence’s foot while the snap was being delivered. Lawrence fell to the ground and even stumbled a second time as he tried to get back up. But the Jaguars’ offensive line held up long enough for Lawrence to get back to his feet just as the pocket was collapsing.

The scrambling Jaguars quarterback broke a tackle and kept the ball himself for a go-ahead rushing touchdown.

The Jaguars held on for the 31-28 victory to improve their record to 4-1. Lawrence went 18-for-25 for 221 yards with a touchdown and an interception. After fumbling at the goal line in the second quarter, Lawrence rebounded to rush for 54 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries.

Lawrence definitely needed a crowning moment after the Jaguars star was caught picking his nose on national television just before leading his team to the game-winning drive.

Jacksonville won despite trailing 14-0 midway through the second quarter. Kansas City probably would have held on had the Chiefs’ defense not botched one of the easiest interceptions of the season.
