The North Carolina Tar Heels’ documentary series will not be going ahead after all.

The documentary, which had been sanctioned by Bill Belichick in association with Hulu, will not be moving forward, according to Jeremiah Holloway of InsideCarolina. The documentary had been confirmed in July, and Belichick even went as far as to inform the players that it would be happening.

It is unclear which side pulled out of the documentary or whether it was a mutual decision.

UNC is having a terrible season under Bill Belichick

It is hard not to think that the Tar Heels’ disastrous season played a role in the plug getting pulled. Hulu undoubtedly hoped to get a close look at Belichick’s methods as he built up the North Carolina program in his first season as a college football coach. Instead, the Tar Heels are 2-3 and have been blown out in all three of their games against Power 4 opponents.

In many ways, this is the latest signal of how badly things are going for the Heels. Hype and fan support was at an all-time high to start the season, but that has essentially collapsed. Belichick, meanwhile, has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons, be it his relationship with Jordon Hudson or his grudge against the New England Patriots.

North Carolina had originally been slated to appear on a college version of “Hard Knocks,” but allegedly backed out because Hudson wanted too much influence. In this instance, it might simply be because the team has not provided a compelling story so far.
