Jets HC Aaron Glenn grateful for overseas trip amid 0-5 start

The New York Jets fell to 0-5 via a 37-22 home loss to the Dallas Cowboys this past Sunday. That game featured paying customers at MetLife Stadium directing loud "MVP" chants toward Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott after the Cowboys grabbed a 30-3 lead in the third quarter.

Thus, it's understandable that first-year Jets head coach Aaron Glenn suggested on Wednesday that now is a great time for his club to be in London ahead of Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos (3-2).

How winless Jets are embracing London trip

"I really love the idea of us getting away," Glenn explained while speaking with reporters, per Randy Lange of the Jets' website. "Get the chance to get in this hotel and vibe together as a group, to be able to understand exactly the things we have to work on to improve where we are. And our guys are doing a really good job of that."

The Jets have plenty to improve if they are to avoid becoming afterthoughts regarding the ongoing season before Halloween arrives. According to ESPN stats, the Jets surrendered the second-most points per game (31.4) in the league over the campaign's first five weeks. Meanwhile, Gang Green is ranked 28th in passing offense (175.0 yards per contest).

Glenn is the first head coach in history to start his Jets tenure with five consecutive defeats, and his defense is the first in league history to record no takeaways over the opening five games of a season since turnovers became an official stat in 1933.

Aaron Glenn, Jets not running from woes

"But the thing we're not running from is the fact that we are 0-5 and there's a lot of work for us to get done, and this is a really good week to try to hone in on those things, because there's a lot of distraction on our side," Glenn continued. "But that's what the NFL is, and you can't run from that. I'm not running from that, either. We just have to work our [butt] off on a daily basis to get out of this hole."

Following the Dallas debacle, Brian Costello of the New York Post wrote that "it would be dumb to put a coach on the hot seat after five games." That said, Costello added that "the Jets look awful, and the expectation was they would be better coached and better prepared than last year."

As of Wednesday, ESPN BET had the Jets as 6.5-point underdogs for the upcoming matchup that will be held at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Glenn indicated he will do everything possible to ensure his players don't treat this trip as any kind of vacation.

"Man, we're here to play a game," Glenn added. "Our total focus is how do we go out there and beat the Broncos, and that's what we're working on every day, and I think our guys are looking at it that way, too. I don't think — I know. Everything we do while we're here is focused on how do we beat the Broncos."

If the Jets don't beat the Broncos, Glenn could hear local sports-talk radio chatter about the fact that he could become a one-and-done coach whenever the Jets' plane lands in the United States following Sunday's encounter.
