Kyler Murray's foot injury appears to be a bigger issue than previously thought.
The Arizona Cardinals quarterback briefly exited because of the injury in a 22-21 Week 5 loss to the Tennessee Titans but returned to the game. However, Pro Football Talk's Josh Alper reported Murray missed a second straight practice on Thursday.
On Wednesday, Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon said Murray is considered "day-to-day," via Alper. If he doesn't practice Friday, he would likely be sidelined for Sunday's road game against the Indianapolis Colts at 1 p.m. ET on Fox.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler added that Murray is considered a "close call." As such, the Cardinals are preparing for either Murray or Jacoby Brissett to start.
As of now, Kyler Murray is shaping up to be a close call. Cardinals will have a plan for both QBs, Murray and Jacoby Brissett. https://t.co/yruNpNqOvt

The Cardinals would likely turn to the journeyman Brissett if Murray doesn't play. The 10-year veteran has played for six teams, including the New England Patriots, where he last started. He went 1-4 in five starts for the Patriots last season before being benched in favor of Drake Maye.
Brissett, 32, is ill-prepared to face the 4-1 Colts, especially without a reliable run game. Cardinals star running back James Conner suffered a season-ending right ankle injury in a 16-15 Week 3 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Since then, Arizona hasn't solved its RB problem.
Backup RB Trey Benson was placed on injured reserve (meaning he will miss at least four games) after a 23-20 Week 4 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
RB3 Emari Demercado rushed for 81 yards on three carries against the Titans but fumbled the ball before crossing the goal line on a would-be 72-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter. This blunder spurred a 15-point Titans comeback.
Murray — who leads the team in rushing yards (173) through five games — mitigates the concerns about Arizona's rushing attack. On Thursday, Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo compared him to Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson. Of course, the former Cincinnati Bengals DC used to face the two-time MVP twice a season.
The Cardinals (2-3) seem to be slipping after losing three straight games and could continue to do so if Murray doesn't play Sunday. As of Thursday, ESPN Bet lists them as a 7.5-point underdog in Week 6.
