The Chicago Bears are coming off their bye week to face the Washington Commanders on Monday night.
This will be much more than just a regular-season game, as it will be another matchup between Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels, the top two picks of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Daniels got the last laugh in their first meeting, taking down the Bears with a Hail Mary that sent the Bears into a tailspin and helped propel the Commanders go on a run to the NFC Championship Game.
However, as much as that loss still stings, Ben Johnson doesn't want to hear anything about it. If anything, he wants the Commanders to know that they're not the same team.
"You'd have to talk to those guys (the players and coaches) about it," Johnson said, via Gene Chamberlain of SI.com. "We're a new team and we're just focused on winning this game this week."
Still, while Matt Eberflus, who had a big share of responsibility for that loss, isn't there anymore, Tyrique Stevenson is still playing a lot of snaps for the Bears.
Stevenson was busy taunting Commanders fans instead of getting ready for the play, and he wound up giving up the game-winning score. Even so, Coach Johnson has confidence in him.
"I think Tyrique's gotten better each game," Johnson said. "Prior to the bye week, that was his best game against the Raiders to date, and I think he's doing a good job of compartmentalizing everything and hitting the reset button going into each week."
The Bears certainly have this game marked in their calendar, and it'll be interesting to see if they can finally move on.
