Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Ty Simpson had his Heisman moment against Associated Press No. 14 Missouri (5-1, 1-1 in SEC) on Saturday.
The junior, in his first season as the team's starting quarterback, delivered several big throws in key situations in the 27-24 win, none more than two fourth-down completions in a late touchdown drive that gave No. 8 Alabama (5-1, 3-0 in SEC) an insurmountable 10-point lead.
Simpson's first big throw came on a 4th-and-8 from Missouri's 38-yard line with under five minutes remaining. The Tigers couldn't manufacture any pressure, and Simpson connected with freshman wideout Lotzeir Brooks on a beautiful 29-yard completion, showing excellent ball placement.

Four plays later, Simpson converted a 4th-and-goal from the Missouri 1-yard line with an easy completion on a well-designed play that left running back Daniel Hill open on an out-breaking route.

Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer's decision to keep the ball in his quarterback's hands with the game's outcome in the balance speaks to his confidence in Simpson, who has been instrumental to the team's turnaround following a Week 1 loss at Florida State (3-3, 0-3 in ACC).
Simpson finished Saturday's win with an efficient 23-of-31 for 200 yards and three touchdowns. This season, the 2022 five-star high school recruit is completing 70.9 percent of his pass attempts for 1,678 yards (8.9 yards per attempt), 18 total touchdowns, and one interception. Thanks to his play, the Tide, whose season could have gone south in a hurry after that loss to Florida State, are among the top contenders to win the SEC.
With three more games against ranked opponents on the schedule (all at home), Simpson will be needed in other pressurized environments going forward. Those moments are what Heisman campaigns are made of, and with his latest performance, Simpson proved he can be trusted to deliver when it matters most.
