A NASCAR Xfinity Series team made a surprising personnel decision early Monday morning.
Viking Motorsports announced that driver Matt DiBenedetto, the team's full-time driver, will not contest the final three races of the 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series season, with Connor Mosack stepping in as DiBenedetto's replacement. Per a team release, the organization will share its 2026 driver lineup "at a later date."

"We'd like to thank Matt for his contributions throughout our inaugural season," said Jeremy Lange, the team's general manager, in a statement. "He played a meaningful role in establishing the foundation of this team, and we wish him all the best."
Through 30 of 33 races, DiBenedetto is 22nd in the Xfinity Series standings with one top-10 finish. 2025 is Viking's first full-time season as an Xfinity Series team. Mosack will drive the No. 99 Chevrolet at Talladega, Martinsville and Phoenix to close the 2025 season. He currently competes full-time in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and has 31 Xfinity Series starts to his credit.
DiBenedetto has yet to release any plans for the final three weeks of 2025. This is not the first year that the 34-year-old driver has been released by a team before the end of a NASCAR season. In 2023, DiBenedetto was released from the Craftsman Truck Series organization Rackley W.A.R. before the final three races of the season.
