Pockets of upset Baltimore Ravens fans chanted for the franchise to fire longtime head coach John Harbaugh as the club fell to 1-5 on the season via a 17-3 home loss to the Los Angeles Rams this past Sunday.
For a piece published on Wednesday, NFL insider Dan Graziano of ESPN addressed whether or not the Ravens could consider parting ways with Harbaugh at any point over the next few months.
"Anything is possible, of course, if a team continues to lose games it expected to win at a high rate," Graziano explained. "But at this point, I don't think John Harbaugh is in any danger of losing his job."
Graziano was referencing how sportsbooks routinely listed the Ravens and Buffalo Bills as the betting favorites to win Super Bowl LX back in the summer. While the Bills won their first four games of the season, they have since suffered back-to-back defeats.
Members of the Ravens remain confident the club can go on a run coming off its Week 7 bye, assuming quarterback Lamar Jackson recovers from the hamstring injury that caused him to miss back-to-back games. Per Lauren Campbell of MassLive, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Tuesday that Baltimore acquiring future assets for running back Derrick Henry ahead of the Nov. 4 trade deadline is "not going to happen," in part because the Ravens are "getting ready to make what they believe is a second-half run."
History shows that a team that notches only a few wins in a season may embrace a franchise reset that would involve moving on from a big-name coach such as Harbaugh. Graziano indicated that the performances of the 2025 Ravens haven't yet hurt Harbaugh's reputation elsewhere around the NFL.
"He'd instantly become the top head coaching candidate on the market this winter," Graziano wrote about Harbaugh. "In a league that keeps cycling through coordinators-turned-head-coaches, teams would jump at the chance to bring in a guy who has done the big job for 18 years and has won more than 60% of his games -- including 13 playoff games and a Super Bowl."
Graziano added that the Ravens are "a smart, circumspect organization that knows how good it has it at the head coach spot" despite the record. In short, it sounds like Graziano expects Harbaugh to hold onto his job through at least the start of the 2026 campaign.
