Kevin Durant sounded pretty flattered by one Seattle Mariners star’s choice of attire this week.
On Wednesday, the Mariners hosted the Toronto Blue Jays at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Wash. for Game 3 of their ALCS playoff series. Seattle won the first two games of the series in Toronto and thus got to take a 2-0 lead into their first home game on Wednesday.
Before the game, Mariners slugger Josh Naylor showed up wearing a notable outfit. He was in a Durant-Seattle SuperSonics jersey.

That led to a response from Durant himself on X.
“Good luck @Mariners,” wrote Durant. “good throwback Josh.”

The former NBA MVP Durant began his career in Seattle, having been drafted by the SuperSonics with the No. 2 overall pick in 2007. But in 2008 (after Durant’s rookie season), the franchise relocated and became the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Naylor’s jersey was particularly fitting too since the Seattle area had waited a very long time to host another ALCS game. The last time that they did so was all the way back in 2001 (when the Mariners won 116 games and the AL West division but lost in five games to the New York Yankees in the ALCS).
Meanwhile, Durant often still shows love to Seattle and has been vocal in the past about how the city needs to have an NBA team again. As such, it makes sense that the 15-time NBA All-Star loved the shoutout from Naylor ahead of Seattle’s first ALCS game in 24 years.
