Bruce Pearl has already landed a new job after leaving the Auburn Tigers.
Pearl will headline a new college basketball show on TNT Sports, according to Andrew Marchand of The Athletic. Pearl will work alongside Jamal Mashburn and Jalen Rose, and he will also do some work on the side with CBS.
TNT is expanding its college basketball coverage this season by adding Big East and Big 12 games to its network. It is part of an effort to compensate for the loss of its NBA package.
It is hardly a shock that Pearl would jump into television, as he is a charismatic figure. The 65-year-old worked for ESPN for a period of time after leaving Tennessee in 2011, and he has no shortage of opinions while also knowing a great deal about the modern college basketball landscape.
Pearl had been subject to speculation that he planned to launch a political career after announcing his retirement, but immediately said he would not be doing so. Taking a new TV job pretty much completely rules that out if people still did not believe him.
Pearl walked away from the Auburn job last month after going 244-123 overall at the school. His son Steven replaced him as head coach.
