Dan Mullen has been linked to the Arkansas Razorbacks’ head-coaching position, but he was quick to address that speculation.
Longtime Arkansas reporter Mike Irwin claimed recently that Mullen would take the job “without any conditions whatsoever.” The UNLV coach responded on X, saying he had “0.0 interest” in the Arkansas vacancy.
Mullen then suggested that the Razorbacks look to hire former Auburn coach Gus Malzahn instead.
0.0 interest in Arkansas. Thanks for the shout out though. Y’all need to hire Gus Malzahn.

Mullen is in his first year as head coach at UNLV. He has previous success at a mid-tier SEC school in the form of Mississippi State, making him a name that gets tossed around whenever there is a similar opening. His 34-15 tenure at Florida got him fired, but it looks pretty decent in retrospect. Still in his first year in his current job, however, Mullen is probably not necessarily looking to bolt at the first opportunity he gets to do so.
Arkansas fired Sam Pittman on Sept. 28 after an embarrassing loss to Notre Dame. They are 2-4, though they only lost by three at Tennessee in the debut of interim coach Bobby Petrino last Saturday.
