The Milwaukee Brewers' (97-65) spectacular 2025 season came to a screeching halt on Friday night. Major League Baseball's best team in the regular season was just outmatched by the high-powered Los Angeles Dodgers (93-69) throughout a four-game NLCS sweep.
It was a successful year for a Brewers team that won a postseason series for the first time since 2018, though the way it ended will undoubtedly leave a sour taste in their mouths.
While the organization and fan base are still coming to grips with their World Series hopes having dissipated, the offseason now rapidly approaches, and less than 24 hours after their elimination, reports about a trade of a Milwaukee star have emerged.
According to Andy McCullough of The Athletic, the Brewers are expected to field trade offers on starting pitcher Freddy Peralta this winter.

The 29-year-old was the Brewers ace in 2025, going 17-6 with a 2.70 ERA in a career-high 176.2 IP. As McCullough mentioned, Peralta is poised to enter the final season of his contract in Milwaukee, which will pay him $8 million in 2026, assuming they exercise his club option.
Given the news, let's take a look at three teams that immediately come to mind as top landing spots for Peralta via trade.
The most obvious No. 1 option is the New York Mets, and that will be the case whenever an elite starting pitcher becomes available this offseason. The Mets starting pitching was a major reason they shockingly missed the playoffs in 2025, and you can guarantee that owner Steve Cohen will spend money to ensure that isn't the case moving forward.
Their stable of young pitching prospects we got to see near the end of the season is very promising, but acquiring an established star in his prime like Peralta is something they'll still be all over. Not only do they have the money, but they also have the prospect capital and depth to easily put forth one of the better packages the Brewers could get.
Another potential fit for Peralta would be the Boston Red Sox, who are also expected to be very aggressive in adding a starting pitcher this winter.
The Garrett Crochet trade has worked out to perfection for the Red Sox, but what the stretch run of the season and wild-card series showed us is that they need help behind their team MVP. Brayan Bello came back nicely from injury, though Lucas Giolito's future in Boston is up in the air, so another set-it-and-forget-it top-of-the-rotation arm like Peralta is exactly what they're looking for.
Like the Mets, the Red Sox have the money and a plethora of good prospects to intrigue Milwaukee with an offer.
The third and final team happens to still be playing, and that's the Toronto Blue Jays.
Toronto's rotation has been a strength in recent years, but with Shane Bieber (player option), Chris Bassitt and Max Scherzer all slated to hit free agency, the Blue Jays will very likely be searching for a starter this offseason.
While Toronto can keep up with the best of them in terms of spending, its prospect pool might not match up with that of New York or Boston. However, it's improved over the last year and a bit, so don't count the Blue Jays out.
