The Clemson Tigers are suffering through a tough 2025 season, and head coach Dabo Swinney has just taken a big hit on the 2026 recruiting trail as a result.
Blake Stewart is a four-star safety recruit from Atlanta, Georgia. He had been committed to Clemson since before the season began. He committed to the Tigers on July 13 after a round of official visits that saw him take in Clemson, Vanderbilt, Arkansas and SMU. He also took an unofficial visit to Miami.
Swinney's team is 3-4 on the season, and his critics are saying that he no longer can deliver a championship. The Tigers had a bye this past weekend, but their last appearance on the football field saw them lose to SMU, 35-24.
Whether that loss caused this decommitment is anybody's guess, but either way, Stewart has not waited to see if Clemson can bounce back against Duke to make the decision to decommit.

Stewart has offers from all over the country, and he's one of the top safeties in the 2026 class, so he can basically play his college ball anywhere he wants.
Notably, though, Keegan Pope of Rivals reported that Stewart was starting to look around at different options with Clemson struggling this season, and Vanderbilt has been pushing to get him. In fact, he was on campus this past weekend for Vanderbilt's huge 17-10 win over Missouri.
Georgia Tech hosted him for the Yellow Jackets' 24-21 win over Clemson. Miami, Georgia and Alabama have also been in contact with the four-star, per Pope, with the Hurricanes being mentioned as a "longtime contender" for his commitment.
Wherever he ends up, one thing is certain: Stewart is absolutely a highly-sought-after 2026 recruit. According to Rivals, he's the No. 35 safety recruit in the 2026 class.
