Sunday night was the first time in his career that Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers faced the Green Bay Packers. When it was all said and done, current Packers QB Jordan Love was standing tall after leading Green Bay to a 35-25 comeback win on the road.
Love was simply sensational against his former mentor, posting season-highs in pass yards (360), completion percentage (78.4%) and passer rating (134.2). He also threw three TD passes and became the first Packers QB to complete 20 passes in a row since Hall of Famer Brett Favre in 2007.
During an appearance on Monday's edition of "Get Up," former player and current ESPN NFL analyst Damien Woody was impressed by what he saw from Green Bay, but especially Love.
"If Jordan Love is going to play like that, the Green Bay Packers are going to find themselves in Santa Clara in February," Woody said. "One thing we talked about with Jordan Love is sometimes it's Jekyll and Hyde with him. First half of the season, it's kind of unpredictable. Then, the second half of the season, he's playing like an MVP. Well, last night he looked like a MVP type of quarterback, and with all that young talent that the Green Bay Packers have on both sides of the ball, if the quarterback plays like this, they're gonna be very hard to beat."

As Woody alluded to, Love had an up-and-down start to the season. While he led the Packers to a huge win over the Detroit Lions in Week 1, he followed that up with a season-low 61.3% completions in a Week 2 win over the Washington Commanders before getting sacked five times and throwing his first of two interceptions this season in a surprise loss to the Cleveland Browns.
Since the Week 3 loss to the Browns, Love has eight TDs and only one interception, including a pair of games with more than 300 pass yards. His QBR (73.5) is sixth in the league.
Pass-rusher Micah Parsons, who is still relatively new to the team after being acquired in a trade with the Dallas Cowboys prior to the season starting, crowned Love "the successor" to Rodgers after helping the Packers improve to 5-1-1 on Sunday night.
With a ferocious defensive front that sacked Rodgers three times and the return of wide receiver Christian Watson to the lineup after suffering a torn right ACL last season, Green Bay is getting healthier and has what it takes to make a run.
If Love continues to play at that level and gets a complete effort around him, the Packers could be worth keeping an eye on down the stretch.
