The Dallas Cowboys fell back to Earth in Week 8, dropping a 44-24 road game to the Denver Broncos.
Their seemingly explosive offense took a huge step back against Sean Payton's elite defense, and it was a tough reality check for Brian Schottenheimer's team.
The Cowboys have fallen to 3-4-1 for the season, and struggling against a fellow playoff hopeful wasn't a pretty sight for this team.
Team owner/GM Jerry Jones expressed frustration after the loss.
“I am not happy at all with winning three ball games. At all,” Jones said, per Michael David Smith of ProFootballTalk. “Can we play better? Of course we can play better.”
Jones, who's known for his incendiary comments, had been quite supportive of Schottenheimer, but it seems like he might be starting to lose his patience.
Still, as bad as the game was, Jones claimed that it would not affect his approach to the Nov. 4 trade deadline.
“If I saw a proposition for us to help this team, no matter what this score was today, then I would look at it on the merits of helping this team. And if you’re talking about trading for a player or trading a player, I would completely look at it on the merits of the team, both for next week or the weeks after or for the longer term,” Jones added. “Today would not affect a decision on trading for a player.”
Jones also said that they would not be shopping for players before next Tuesday, although the team will be open for business and looking to boost its defense.
