The Pittsburgh Steelers have been active participants in the trade market and have positioned themselves to be buyers at the NFL trade deadline on Nov. 4. This is a pivotal time for the Steelers, especially after dropping two straight games and looking like a team in need of help on both sides of the ball at certain positions. Pittsburgh has already made some moves, but the one everyone has their eyes on is wide receiver, as the team has been making calls around the league to inquire about the availability of certain players to trade for potentially.

One of those players is Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers, who has been a player linked to a potential trade for quite a while now. The Steelers have been actively pursuing a trade with interested teams for another wide receiver to complement Pro Bowl wide receiver DK Metcalf, with Meyers being a name linked to the Steelers for quite some time now. Recently, NFL insiders Jeremy Fowler and Dan Graziano shared information on the trade market for multiple players around the league, and the news they shared should be exciting for Steelers fans hoping the Steelers make a move before the deadline. Fowler specifically spoke about what the situation with Meyers looks like, and what he said is encouraging for the Steelers.

"Several teams are believed to be in the receiver market, most notably the Steelers and possibly the Broncos and Bills," Fowler wrote. "Meyers clearly wants out, and the Raiders are in a transitional phase. They just signed veteran Tyler Lockett, which could ease the loss of dealing Meyers. Pittsburgh is keeping tabs on this one, but is prepared to be patient, too. If I had to predict a destination right now, I'd say the Steelers."

Hearing that Meyers could be part of the Steelers in the near future is certainly good news, given the Steelers' season so far. Aside from Metcalf, the Steelers do not truly have a second option at wide receiver, with Calvin Austin III posting some fairly inconsistent games when he's been available, not putting up over 100 yards in a single game this season. Having a more consistent option at wide receiver behind Metcalf would be huge for the Steelers, and Meyers is certainly a player who would be able to fit that bill.

However, with how the Steelers' offense has looked in recent weeks, the potential trade for Meyers wouldn't just add consistency to the receiver room behind Metcalf; it would also give a strong boost to an offense that has been playing remarkably well as of late. Metcalf has had some strong performances in recent weeks, particularly against the Minnesota Vikings when he went for 126 yards on five receptions, and placing Meyers alongside him will only make him better as the season goes on.

Steelers' offense would massively improve with Jakobi Meyers

If the Steelers were to pull off a trade for Meyers, as Fowler suggests, Pittsburgh would gain another element to a passing attack that has only gotten better over time. Even as Metcalf continues to improve over the course of the season, adding another strong receiver to the room, whether that is Meyers or another receiver discussed in trade deals, would massively improve the Steelers' offense as they attempt to recover from the last two weeks.

Having Meyers in the fold would also go a long way to aiding the development of Steelers' second-year wide receiver Roman Wilson as well, especially as he continues to develop further and become a true star in the offense, giving him less attention by opposing defenses as they would look to contain Metcalf and Meyers — leaving Wilson open for a wider share of targets.
