Baseball fans are still coming to grips with the unbelievable finish to the 2025 season that saw the Los Angeles Dodgers remain on top thanks to a dramatic Game 7 World Series win over the Toronto Blue Jays.
It was a game and series that nobody will ever forget, and the MLB is as hot as it’s ever been. With that in mind, perhaps the quick turnaround to the start of free agency on Nov. 6 will continue that momentum as all eyes turn to the top available players.
The Dodgers are back-to-back World Series champions, and many don’t like that because of their tendency to spend the most money and land the biggest fish every winter. Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Blake Snell, Freddie Freeman and Roki Sasaki are just a few players that were brought in via free agency in recent years.
That has led to speculation that the top available free agent in 2025, star outfielder Kyle Tucker, would wind up in Los Angeles.
However, according to ESPN reporter Alden Gonzalez, that might not be the case.
“But what will attract the most attention in the early part of this offseason will be the Dodgers' ties to Skubal and Tucker. They'll be engaged on both of those players, simply because they can, but it will probably be on the periphery,” Gonzalez wrote.
Dodgers expected to aggressively pursue a closer and right-handed late-inning arms this offseason, per @Alden_Gonzalez.

Team will check in on Tarik Skubal and Kyle Tucker, but interest is expected to be "on the periphery."
The 28-year-old Tucker is coming off a solid first season with the Chicago Cubs after being dealt from the Houston Astros last offseason. He hit .266 with 22 HRs and 73 RBI in just 136 games played in 2025.
While it sounds like the Dodgers will only be dipping their toe into the bidding war for Tucker, we should still expect them to be active in pursuing outfield help.
With Mookie Betts now a full-time shortstop, Los Angeles' outfield was rather thin this year, relying heavily on Teoscar Hernandez and Andy Pages, who struggled mightily in the postseason, although his ninth-inning catch on Ernie Clement to save the World Series led it all to be forgotten.
Enrique Hernandez also spent plenty of time in left field and is set to hit free agency, though it would make a lot of sense to see him re-sign with the Dodgers.
All of that being said, they need to upgrade at the position, and if Tucker isn't in the cards, then a potential reunion with Cody Bellinger could be the perfect move.
While he struggled to end his Dodgers tenure, Bellinger has been phenomenal in the three seasons to follow, hitting .281 and averaging 24 HRs and 91 RBI in that span with the Cubs and Yankees.
The 30-year-old won't come cheap, but compared to the $400+ million Tucker will likely make, he could be a bargain with the ability to put up very similar numbers.
When he left in 2022, it was time for both sides to move on, but here we are in 2025, and it feels like a return to bring Bellinger back to Los Angeles makes more sense than anyone could have imagined.
