CeeDee Lamb and the rest of the Dallas Cowboys received some tragic news on Thursday after it was confirmed that defensive end Marshawn Kneeland had died at the age of 24.

Kneeland was in his second season with the Cowboys after being selected as a second-round pick during the 2024 NFL Draft. In seven games played this season, the former Western Michigan Broncos star had registered 12 combined tackles (six solo), three tackles for loss and one quarterback hit.

According to reports, Kneeland died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Cowboys DE reportedly told his family goodbye amid a mental health episode.

TMZ reported on Wednesday that Kneeland was involved in a pursuit on Wednesday night after he evaded police troopers over a traffic violation. He later crashed his car on Dallas Parkway. His body was reportedly found after the pursuit.

The Cowboys issued a statement on the untimely death of Kneeland.

"Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organization," the Cowboys said. "Our thoughts and prayers regarding Marshawn are with his girlfriend Catalina and his family."

Lamb took to social media to share his reaction to the news. The All-Pro wide receiver shared an announcement post from Football Forever, while also adding his own message about the tragedy.

“.. you just never know, Sleep well brada ” Lamb wrote.

Lamb, a six-year veteran with the Cowboys, got the chance to be teammates with Kneeland for two seasons.

Lamb and the Cowboys are on bye in Week 10. Their next game is scheduled for Nov. 17 against the Las Vegas Raiders at Allegiant Stadium.
