Defiant A.J. Brown addresses latest controversial comments about Eagles offense

While speaking with reporters on Wednesday, disgruntled Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown had an opportunity to walk back his latest controversial comments about his frustrations related to the Eagles' offense. 

Those who have followed the Brown-Eagles situation over the past 12 months or so won't be surprised to learn he went down a different route. 

A.J. Brown unapologetic after again venting frustrations

"I think if you've got eyes, you can see that," Brown said about the "sh-- show" comment he made during a Tuesday night stream, per Nick Shook of the NFL's website. "It's the same things I've been saying all season. So me making light of my situation on Twitch with my friend, that's something I'm not apologizing for. Because, like I said, if you have eyes, you can see that."

Brown tallied just two catches for 13 yards on three targets at Green Bay's Lambeau Field, and he subsequently advised fantasy football players to "get rid of me." He also suggested during the stream that scoring touchdowns using the "Madden" video game version of himself is generating the "only highlights of football I'm living right now." 

"After the game, I said all the right answers. Y’all still made a story," Brown said on Wednesday, as shared by Brooks Kubena of The Athletic. "...And so, like, it’s not that I was throwing anybody on the bus. I’m literally trying to laugh through this s---. This s--- is tough. But I’m trying to make fun of the situation and to try to get through it. So, you know, it is what it is, man."

A.J. Brown sends warning to Eagles about offense

Questions about the relationship between Brown and quarterback Jalen Hurts have hovered over the Eagles since the receiver seemed to criticize Hurts in December 2024. In October, Brown admitted that "it’s frustrating at times" when he isn't able "to contribute" during games. 

Over his first eight contests of the season, Brown recorded 408 yards and three touchdowns on 31 catches. According to ESPN stats, the Eagles began rank 12th in the league in points scored per game (24.2) and 25th in passing yards per contest (191.7). While Philadelphia is 7-2, Brown clearly believes the club's offense will need to be better in win-or-go-home games. 

"We can’t just keep slapping the Band-Aid over the defense doing their job and getting us out of trouble," Brown added. "At what point are we gonna pick up our slack as an offense — that we’re so great, you know? And that’s where I’m getting at. It’s not about we’re not winning or I don’t care about winning, all I care about is stats. No, it’s been —week after week sometimes — we’re not contributing, we’re not doing our job on offense. So you can’t just keep slapping a Band-Aid over that, and you expect to win later in the year, and you think you’re gonna go to it at the end of the year. It’s not gonna f------ happen. It’s not gonna happen. It’s not gonna happen."

Brown's warning may be tested when the Eagles host the Detroit Lions (6-3) Sunday night. As of Thursday morning, ESPN BET had Philadelphia as a 2.5-point favorite for that matchup.
