Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts continues to impress on and off the field.
The four-time World Series champion, seven-time Silver Slugger, eight-time All-Star, six-time Gold Glove winner and the 2018 American League MVP added to his resume by shining as a co-host for the 2025 MLB Awards with comedian Roy Wood Jr.
Among the many funny moments during Thursday’s award show, Betts showed off some comedy chops during a bit with Wood Jr. in which they joked about how baseball players' names sound like auto mechanics.
The joke featured 22-year MLB veteran and nine-time All-Star Gary Sheffield, free-agent outfielder Tommy Pham, and reliever Amir Garrett, who were all sitting together at one table, with their stern looks conveying their commentary.

Betts' teammate, catcher Will Smith, said that Betts' confidence is what allows him to do anything.
"He's just a confident guy who can go play a sport, or he can go out on stage and host an event like this," teammate Will Smith said to Sonja Chen of MLB.com. "It's just confidence."
Betts' talent and personality will suit him perfectly for a job in television as a baseball analyst or host when he decides to retire. At 33 and still signed with the Dodgers for another seven years (roughly $194 million), Betts still has time before that’s a possibility.
He also hosts his own podcast with Bleacher Report called “On Base with Mookie Betts.” This practice, through his podcasting, has paid off and will help in his endeavors down the road.
Betts could be a likely candidate to join Fox’s pre- and post-game shows with Kevin Burkhardt, Hall of Fame shortstop Derek Jeter, Hall of Fame designated hitter David Ortiz and three-time MVP third baseman Alex Rodriguez in the future.
