Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark has been busy during the WNBA offseason, but that has not stopped her from carving out time for her former team, the Iowa Hawkeyes, as they begin the 2025-26 college basketball season.

Clark played four seasons at Iowa, scoring an NCAA record 3,951 points during her college career. Her influence remains strong in Iowa City — Clark's No. 22 jersey hangs in the rafters at Carver-Hawkeye Arena, where season tickets for women's basketball are sold out for the third straight season.

The West Des Moines native was locked in on Thursday when the Iowa women's basketball team hosted a local rivalry game against the Drake Bulldogs. The contest resulted in a 100-58 win for the Hawkeyes.

One play from the blowout win caught the attention of Iowa assistant coach Abby Stamp, who could not help but think of Clark and former Iowa guard Gabbie Marshall.

"THIS IS WHAT I LIVE FOR!!" Stamp wrote, tagging Clark and Marshall in a video on X of a beautiful passing sequence that resulted in a three-pointer by sixth-year guard Kylie Feuerbach.

Clark quickly fired back, assuring her former coach that not only had she seen the play, but also "Saw ur reaction live, was pretty awesome."

Stamp was elevated to an assistant coach under former head coach Lisa Bluder in 2019. Now working as a member of head coach Jan Jensen's staff, Stamp's role includes coaching perimeter players and breaking down film for scouting.

Feuerbach's three-pointer was the type of shot that Marshall and Clark, Iowa's all-time assists leader, used to create for her when they played together from 2021-2024. The 2025 edition, set up by Chazadi Wright and Taylor McCabe, illustrated the continuity of Stamp's emphasis on ball movement over the years.

For a basketball junkie like Clark, few things are as exciting as seeing perfectly executed ball rotation. Seeing her old coach get hyped about it was one of those few things.
