Shedeur Sanders sees first NFL action in Browns' loss to Ravens

A long-awaited and highly anticipated NFL debut took place Sunday afternoon in Cleveland.

Shedeur Sanders, the son of Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, saw his first NFL regular-season action in the Cleveland Browns' 23-16 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

Sanders replaced the injured Dillon Gabriel after he departed the game to be evaluated for a concussion.

Overall performance

Sanders had a tough time getting acclimated to game speed, as he completed just four of his 16 attempts, totaling 47 yards. Sanders added three rushes for 16 yards, showcasing his ability to escape the pocket and use his legs when needed.

Sanders threw the first interception of his career, as he was picked off by Ravens safety Nate Wiggins. Sanders nearly threw another interception and was sacked twice in his debut.

Sanders had a chance to lead Cleveland down the field for a game-tying drive in the late stages of the game, but the drive ultimately came up unsuccessful.

Future plans at quarterback

Considering the way the season has gone, combined with Sanders' performance on Sunday, it would appear that Gabriel would remain the starting quarterback for Cleveland if he were healthy.

If not, though, it would likely be Sanders getting his first career start in Week 12 against the Las Vegas Raiders.
