Ohio State flips four-star LB Braxton Rembert from Wake Forest

On the surface, a four-star recruit choosing the Ohio State Buckeyes over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons would seem like a no-brainer.

There's so much that goes into it on the recruiting trail, though, so it's not always a guarantee to go the way of the "better" program.

In the case of linebacker Braxton Rembert from Hoschton, Georgia, though, the Buckeyes did end up prevailing over a "lesser' program in Wake Forest.

Rembert had committed to Wake in June, but then his recruitment really took off. He got an offer from the Buckeyes a few months later, in late October, and Ryan Day and his staff were able to get the 6-foot-5, 200-pound linebacker onto campus this past weekend for an official visit.

That's all it took for Day and his staff to secure a flip. Day's resume speaks for itself as a national championship-winning head coach, but the vibes in "The Shoe" also won Rembert over.

“The atmosphere is unreal,” Rembert told Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong after his visit. “The opportunity to play under Ryan Day and his program after they just won the national championship is not something I thought I would be able to do if you told me this 10 months ago.”

Keep in mind, Ohio Stadium holds over 100,000 people on gameday, and few fanbases are more passionate than Buckeye fans. No offense to the Demon Deacons or Allegacy Federal Credit Union Stadium, which holds just 31,500, but they just don't hold a candle to what Ohio State can offer a top recruit.

Speaking of, Rembert is ranked as the No. 56 EDGE in the 2026 class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Rivals ranks him as the No. 12 linebacker in the 2026 class, so he's without a doubt a big-time recruit.

Ohio State's 2026 class is stacked. Rembert is recruit No. 28 committed to play for the Buckeyes, and the class is ranked No. 6 nationally.
