Florida State’s season has been a chaotic, bumpy ride ever since its season-opening win over Alabama.
Just when fans thought they had seen it all, FSU’s sequence in the fourth quarter during Friday night’s game at NC State summed up its 2025 campaign perfectly.
With the Wolfpack leading 14-11 in the final five minutes, the Seminoles prepared to receive a punt.
After a sky-high kick, the football bounced off an FSU player’s helmet and rolled 25 yards right into the hands of Wolfpack punter Caden Noonkester back near the original line of scrimmage.

Upon another defensive stand by the Seminoles, NC State lined up to kick it again. This time, wide receiver Squirrel White muffed the ball, allowing the Wolfpack to recover inside the 20-yard line.

NC State quarterback CJ Bailey turned the turnover into points by finding tight end Justin Joly in the endzone on fourth down.
After FSU kicker Jake Weinberg shanked a 51-yard field goal, White successfully received a punt in the final seconds, drawing sarcastic applause from the road crowd. Ultimately, this is one of the worst special teams collapses in recent memory, and it may not be topped for years.
With a newfound way of losing a game, the Seminoles get one last shot at reaching bowl eligibility on Nov. 29 when they travel to in-state rival Florida.
