The Chicago Blackhawks have nothing to celebrate after suffering a 9-3 loss to the Buffalo Sabres on Friday night.
However, Chicago's young star Connor Bedard did provide something to appreciate as the only bright spot from an otherwise miserable night.
Amid his team getting blown out, Bedard, 20, often viewed as one of the faces of the next era of great players in the NHL, reached a significant career milestone. Bedard picked up two assists in the game, reaching and surpassing 100 helpers in his career.
It only took the first overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft, early into his third season and exactly 171 games to record triple digits in assists.

Ironically enough, Bedard's pair of assists in the loss to the Sabres snapped a four-game slump without one. Bedard's last game with at least one assist came on Nov. 9 during a 5-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings.
After putting up 61 points by tallying 22 goals and 39 assists as a rookie, Bedard registered new career-highs across the board last season. Bedard scored 23 goals and registered 44 assists for a total of 67 points.
But now Bedard is on pace to blow each of his first two NHL seasons out of the water. The 2024 Calder Memorial Trophy winner as the league's Rookie of the Year has 31 points through 21 games, thanks to 13 goals, 18 helpers. Bedard is also a +9 on the year following consecutive seasons finishing in the negative.
To this point in his career, Bedard has 58 goals, 101 assists and 159 points so far during the 2025-26 season.
