NFL Week 12 winners, losers: Chiefs back in it; Eagles offense shows flaws again

Now that most of the NFL's Week 12 schedule is in the books, it is time to take a look at some of the biggest winners and losers of the week. It was a huge day for the Kansas City Chiefs' playoff chances, while the Philadelphia Eagles showed they still have some big flaws on offense.

NFL Week 12 winners

Kansas City Chiefs playoff chances. There was perhaps no win more meaningful in Week 12 than the Chiefs' win over the Indianapolis Colts. They avoided a three-game losing streak, avoided falling under .500 in late November and saw a huge swing in their playoff odds. It was not pretty; they needed a big comeback, but they got the result they desperately needed.

Baltimore Ravens playoff chances: Speaking of not looking pretty, the Ravens have not been overly impressive the past three weeks, but they keep winning, are back to 6-5 and now have the top spot (by tiebreaker) in the AFC North thanks to their win over the New York Jets and the Pittsburgh Steelers' loss to the Chicago Bears

Jahmyr Gibbs, running back, Detroit LionsThe Lions overcame a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit to get a 34-27 overtime win against the New York Giants. Gibbs was the star of the game with 219 yards rushing, 45 yards receiving and three touchdowns. His third touchdown was a 69-yard run to open overtime.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba, wide receiver, Seattle SeahawksA wide receiver has never won the NFL MVP Award. If anybody is going to have a chance to do it, Smith-Njigba might be it. He had another monster game for the Seahawks on Sunday, catching eight passes for 167 yards and two touchdowns.

George Pickens, wide receiver,  Dallas Cowboys: What a pickup he has been. He played a key role in matching the Cowboys' largest comeback in franchise history, catching nine passes for 146 yards and a touchdown. He also made some highlight reel plays.

Myles Garrett, EDGE, Cleveland BrownsQuarterback Shedeur Sanders will get the headlines, but Garrett was the real game-changer here. He is on his way toward another defensive player of the year honor and is also closing in on the single-season NFL sack record. He had three more sacks on Sunday and is up to 18 for the season. He is only four sacks away from tying the record.

NFL Week 12 losers

Philadelphia Eagles offense: The Eagles scored 21 points in the first 18 minutes and seemed to be on their way to an easy win, rediscovering their magic. Then they were shut out over the remaining 42 minutes to lose. This is still a very flawed team that does not seem to have an identity despite the strong record.

Pittsburgh Steelers: Just the whole operation is a loser right now. They have let some winnable games slip away this season, and Sunday against the Chicago Bears was another. Bad offense with no identity, overrated defense and no attention to detail in big spots. It is all a poor reflection on the coaching staff and front office for the roster it has assembled.

J.J. McCarthy, quarterback, Minnesota VikingsIt is important for the Vikings to find out what they have in their second-year quarterback. So far they should not be liking what they are finding. He is looking worse each week, despite a promise to be better

New York Giants: The Giants might be in good shape if NFL games were only 50 minutes long. Unfortunately for them, they are 60 minutes in, and they have not yet found a way to complete that. Another blown lead on Sunday. Some players are getting tired of it.

New Orleans Saints Taysom Hill usage: Trying to make this a thing every year just is not working. Hill ran 10 times for 17 yards on Sunday and was 0-for-2 passing while also fumbling one time.

Pete Carroll, head coach, Las Vegas Raiders: Could this be a one-and-done? Should it be? The Raiders' offseason had all the signs of a team looking to compete this season. They might be the worst team in football.
