Going into the fourth quarter of Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts at Arrowhead Stadium, the Kansas City Chiefs trailed by 11 in a game they desperately needed to win to stay alive in the AFC playoff hunt.
And as they have done so many times in the Patrick Mahomes era, the Chiefs found a way to win.
A touchdown run from Kareem Hunt and subsequent two-point conversion on a pass to Rashee Rice cut Indianapolis' lead to three. Mahomes then led a 87-yard drive that culminated with a game-tying field goal from Harrison Butker to force the game into overtime.
It was in overtime that Kansas City truly looked like a playoff-bound team. Kansas City's defense stuffed Jonathan Taylor on a 3rd-and-1 run to get the ball back to Mahomes.
The ensuing Kansas City possession looked like a calm Sunday drive, with Mahomes leading a 12 play, 81-yard series that set Butker up with a 27-yard chip shot field goal to win the game.

The victory keeps the Chiefs very much alive in the AFC playoff hunt, though there's still plenty of work for the defending AFC champions to do in order to get back to the playoffs for a 12th straight year.
With six regular season games remaining and a stacked AFC field to contend with, Kansas City has little margin for error over the final month and a half of the regular season. A road matchup with the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving is up next for the Chiefs.
