The San Francisco 49ers defeated the Carolina Panthers, 20-9, on Monday night. However, the biggest story of the night didn’t come until after the game concluded.
During the post-game scrum at midfield, 49ers WR Jauan Jennings singled out Panthers DB Tre’von Moehrig and hitting him in the face. It was later shown that Moehrig appeared to punch Jennings right below the belt before the end of the game.
49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan reacted to the low blow. Based on his reaction, Shanahan’s feelings aren’t based in anger toward Jennings’ actions postgame.
“The guy took a cheap shot and hit him in the balls,” Shanahan said. “I was really proud of Jauan for not losing his mind out there and get him to the sideline.”
Jennings finished the game with five receptions for 41 yards and a touchdown during the winning effort. Meanwhile, Moehrig was the second-leading tackler for Carolina during the matchup. He ended the game with four solo tackles (eight total) to go along with one tackle for loss.
