Justin Tucker may find himself back in the NFL sooner rather than later.
On Monday, New Orleans Saints head coach Kellen Moore confirmed that Tucker will be brought in for a tryout with the team, which would be his first since he was suspended for the first 10 weeks of the NFL season for violating the leagues personal conduct policy.
Tucker, 36, spent the first 13 seasons of his career with the Baltimore Ravens but was released by the team in May.
The decision to bring Tucker in for a tryout comes after Saints kicker Blake Grupe missed two field goals in a 24-10 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.
"We're bringing in some guys, it's the first time we've brought in guys this year," Moore said in a news conference on Monday. "We'll evaluate those guys with our current roster and take it step by step."
Those 'guys' involve Tucker.
"That's going to be some personal dialogue between myself, him, Mickey (Loomis), we'll have to go through that process," Moore said regarding Tucker and the process of talking to him. "We were not in Baltimore, we were not part of that process, so it's about having those conversations as we go through this thing. We'll keep that private as we kind of go through it."
If the Saints were to sign Tucker, his first game with New Orleans would be his first NFL action since Jan. 19.
