NFL makes decision on Panthers safety Tre'von Moehrig after low blow

While the San Francisco 49ers were able to take down the Carolina Panthers on "Monday Night Football," the focus afterwards was not on the game. Instead, it was the postgame fight that happened between the two teams as they were shaking hands that was the main storyline.

49ers receiver Jauan Jennings went after Panthers safety Tre'von Moehrig after the game, punching him in the face. At first, it was unclear why Jennings went after him after the final second had ticked off the clock.

The broadcast then showed a video of Moehrig punching Jennings below the belt on one of the final plays of the game.

The NFL has made a decision on any punishment that will come from that, and it's not good news for Moehrig. He has been suspended for one game, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Schefter also reported that Moehrig will appeal his suspension.

It seems unlikely that Moehrig will win his appeal. This seems to be pretty cut and dry that he did something incredibly unsportsmanlike for no apparent reason. Based on the video evidence, the attack seems completely unprovoked.

Moehrig is in his first season with the Panthers after spending the previous four seasons with the Raiders. He is one of their starting safeties, so it will be a big loss for the Panthers if he is unavailable next week.

Carolina takes on one of the best teams in the NFL in Week 13, playing the Los Angeles Rams. Without Moehrig in the lineup, it's going to be much harder for the Panthers to stop Matthew Stafford. Stafford has been playing at an MVP level, so it will be all hands on deck to stop him.

Moehrig needs to be more disciplined than this moving forward.
