The Virginia Cavaliers are in the midst of a tremendous season, but they just hit a snag that's absolutely going to impact them the rest of the way.
Starting linebacker Kam Robinson has been one of the Cavaliers' best defenders this season, but they've now lost him for the rest of this season because of a torn ACL. Robinson was injured on the first drive in a 34-17 win over Duke on Nov. 15.
"Got some bad news on his on his knee — ACL, gonna have surgery here, so he'll be done for the for the rest of the season," said head coach Tony Elliott, according to 247Sports. "But really grateful for all that he did to help the team to get to this point."
Robinson missed the first three games of the season with a collarbone injury, but even despite that, he'll still finish this campaign as one of the most productive players on the team; he's currently second on the team in tackles with 64, and he also notched two sacks, one pass defended, one fumble recovery and two interceptions — both taken back for touchdowns.

Robinson also notched a game-winning safety in a 22-20 win over Washington State on Oct. 18.
You simply don't replace a player like Robinson, though Virginia will try with junior linebacker Landon Danley, who filled in for the star when he went down against Duke.
"You saw last game we played versus Duke, he went right in there, ended up leading us in tackles, or being tied for leading tackles in the game, coming into a reserve role. So it slowed down for him," Elliott said of Danley. "He understands the process of preparation throughout the course of the week."
