The Green Bay Packers are 7-3-1 on the season after they handily dismantled the Minnesota Vikings by the score of 23-6 on Sunday afternoon. The victory ensured that, for the moment, Green Bay remains in second place in the NFC North and in the sixth seed in the NFC playoff picture.
It was the Packers’ stellar defense, led by All-Pro pass rusher Micah Parsons, who dominated the day, sacking Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy five times. Their stifling performance allowed head coach Matt LaFleur to take pressure off of quarterback Jordan Love, who was playing through a left shoulder injury.
Instead of relying on the passing game, Green Bay turned to running back Emanuel Wilson (who was starting in place of an injured Josh Jacobs) and he rewarded their faith in him with a 107-yard and two-touchdown performance.
Hours after the game, it was reported that McCarthy had been placed in the NFL concussion protocol after reporting symptoms to the team on their way back home. There was no specific play that is believed to have caused the concussion, but it is clear that he played part of the game after being concussed.
Packers rookie Warren Brinson had a response to the news on social media:
Please don’t kind fine us. this was an accident

The comment, of course, is in reference to the picture above which shows Brinson making contact with McCarthy’s helmet. As stated, it is not clear what play caused the concussion.
Brinson had 0.5 sacks in the victory and led the Packers with five quarterback pressures despite playing just 15 defensive snaps. He combined for the sack with linebacker Isaiah McDuffie.
Parsons had two sacks of McCarthy while interior lineman Devonte Wyatt also had two.
McCarthy is not likely to be able to play in Minnesota’s upcoming game against the Seattle Seahawks.
